Huawei Y6 2018: Can I Install Apps From Google Play Store On SD Card?

If your Huawei Y6 2018, or other Android device has little storage space, one of the most common ways you can make room for more apps is uninstalling others.

However, you can expand your Android device’s storage if it comes with an SD card slot.

One Reddit user tried to install apps from Google Play store to the 16GB SD card on his Huawei Y6 (2018) phone but couldn’t, even via the phone’s settings; nothing worked.

Sometimes moving apps to external memory may be difficult but you can do it and refresh your internal memory by transferring all apps to your SD card.

There are third-party apps as well that are useful for installing apps on devices with small internal memory that don’t let you save files directly to your SD card.

The challenge is that most Android devices come with only 16 or 32GB of internal memory. This isn’t adequate for most users, especially once they start taking videos or pictures, downloading apps, movies, and music.

Similarly, not all apps can be installed or moved to SD storage. In some cases, the device itself doesn’t offer this support, whereas some apps may be too large for the SD card.

Furthermore, developers may prohibit installation or moving of apps to SD storage to enhance the phone’s performance.

Huawei Y6 2018 phone was launched in April 2018, runs EMUI 8.0, and has a dedicated microSD card slot with up to 256GB, and internal memory of 16GB and 2GB RAM.

According to Huawei’s support team, the Y6 phone, like all other Huawei devices, has an EMUI user interface and this doesn’t offer the possibility to install or transfer apps to the SD card.

On the SD card, users can only save multimedia files like music, photos, and videos, documents, among other files.

Therefore, there’s no option to install or transfer apps from Google Play Store to your SD card on your Huawei Y6 2018 phone.

However, another Reddit user advises that you install the app to your device and move the files to the SD card through an Android setting: App Manager>App>Export to SD. You can try this and see if it works with your Y6 phone.
