Google Play Store Error Code 963 [SOLVED]

Google Play Store Error Code 963

Google Play store error 963 pops up when you download, install, or update an app via the store.

It is a typical error that reads: “cannot be downloaded due to an error (963)”, and is attributable to an app or its corresponding update.

The error, which comes as a result of a data crash, mostly with cheaper smartphones, hinders the apps from downloading, installing, or updating. Other reasons include corrupted Google Play Store cache and some SD-card related hitches as most times, external memory-enhancer chips have no support for big apps and their related updates.

However, like other Play store errors, the 963 code is a minor glitch that you can easily fix with a few solutions.

How to fix Google Play Store Error 963

Clear Google Play Store Cache and Data

This helps keep Play Store clean and free from data stored therein that brings up issues like error 963. You can do this regularly to ensure the error doesn’t happen again.

To do this:

  • Go to Google Play Store Settings
  • Click Application Manager
  • Select All (this shows built-in and downloaded apps on your device)
  • Click Google Play Store
  • Tap Clear Cache and Clear Data

When you’ve completed these steps, try and download, install or update the problematic app again.

Uninstall Play Store Updates

This is simple and quick to do. It has helped several users restore Play Store back to its previous, original status free from the downloaded updates.

To do this:

  • Go to Google Play Store Settings
  • Click Application Manager
  • Go to All Apps and select Google Play Store
  • Click Uninstall Updates

Move the App to Device Memory

If the problematic app is stored in your external memory or SD card, move it to your device’s internal memory. This is because some memory-enhancing chips don’t have support for big apps and can prevent updates owing to memory shortage.

Move the app by doing this:

  • Go to Google Play Store Settings
  • Click Apps
  • Go to All Apps and click on the problematic app
  • Click Move to Phone (or internal storage)
  • Try downloading the updates again from Play Store or updating the app

Delete and Add Your Google Account Again

This may seem dreary or monotonous, but it takes a short time to do, plus its one of the effective ways of dealing with the Google Play Store error 963.

To do this:

  • Go to Settings on your device
  • Under Accounts, select Google
  • From the Menu, tap on your account
  • Select Remove account
  • Restore your account by going back to Accounts
  • Tap Add account and then tap Google to configure your account again

Unmount External Memory Card

Sometimes your SD card or other external memory chip for storage can cause Error 963. To resolve it, temporarily unmount the card and return it once done.

To do this:

  • Go to your device’s Settings
  • Select Storage
  • Tap Unmount SD card from the options

Try and download, install or update the problematic app. If successful, mount the memory card back to your device.
