At a first glance, HP Spectre x2 and Microsoft’s Surface Pro 6 are rather alike. Of course, they share some similarities and can be both used to perform certain tasks, therefore choosing just one of them can definitely be a difficult task. However, looking at the differences between them, we can pick the one that fits our needs. Design and additional features
Both tablets have a kickstand, detachable keyboard and pen support. The difference between them is that Spectre x2 has a boarded U-shaped kickstand, whereas the Surface Pro’s kickstand is more of a solid piece. Both can be extended out some 165 degrees. When it comes to the choice of colors, Spectre has only one option, dark ash, while Surface is available in two versions – black and platinum.
Connectivity-wise, Spectre offers two USB-C 3.0 ports and a microSD, while Surface has a USB-A port, mini DisplayPort, microSD and Surface Connect.
Display
Spectre and Surface have the same size of touch displays – 12.3-inch with an aspect ratio of 3:2, and very similar amount of bezel. Talking about their resolutions, Spectre has 3000×2000 and Surface 2736×1824. Both tablets support active pens, however only Spectre has one included in the price.
Performance
The area where these two devices are not that similar is performance. HP Spectre x2 is equipped with Intel Core i7-756OU CPU with two cores and Iris Plus Graphics 640, while Surface Pro 6 uses 8th Gen quad-core i5 and i7 and UHD Graphics 620.
When it comes to RAM and internal storage, Spectre has 8GB and 256GB SSD, on the other hand Surface has 16GB and 1TB SSD. Spectre’s battery lasts for up to 13.5 hours, while Surface’s – 8 hours.
