The moment we have all been waiting for: the global launch of Zenfone 6 that took place on May 16 truly made waves when its design was revealed. Held in Valencia, Spain, the event was opened with a speech from ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih:

The new flagship from ASUS was created with four challenges in mind, added Mr. Shih:
“We confronted four of the most fundamental challenges of smartphones: screen, camera, battery, and performance. We believe we provided the best ever and most extraordinary solution. ASUS ZenFone 6 is designed to Defy Ordinary without compromise.”
And indeed, when you look at the following specs and features, Zenfone 6 doesn’t disappoint. Let’s check out the internals and all the details you need to know about the new smartphone from ASUS.
ASUS Zenfone 6 specs and features
The powerful smartphone doesn’t just have an all-screen display, it has a unique Flip Camera, a monster of a battery and more. Have you seen the camera yet? Here it is:
Display – notchless NanoEdge all-screen display (92% screen-to-body ratio), 19.5:9 aspect ratio, protected by 3D-curved Gorilla Glass.
CPU – Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform with 7nm, 64-bit octa-core processor
Compared to the Zenfone 5, the Snapdragon 855 in the new flagship offers up to 45% performance and 20% faster graphic rendering.
GPU – Qualcomm Adreno 640
RAM/ROM – UFS 2.1, up to 8 GB of RAM / 256 GB ROM
Cameras – 48MP image sensor – 1/2.0″ large sensor size (Sony® IMX586), Quad Bayer technology – 12MP, F1.79 aperture, 79° field of view, Laser autofocus, Dual LED flash.
It features HDR+ Enhanced and Super Night modes, 16-scene AI Scene Detection and the Camera flips to change from selfie to rear camera (as seen in the video above). The flip module is motorized and built from amorphous alloy, which is lighter than steel and four times stronger. The camera serves as both front and rear cameras, thanks to the 180° flip-up module, allowing you to have great photos and shooting for selfies.
The secondary camera has 13MP, 125° ultrawide camera and 200% wider view, also bringing real-time distortion correction.
If you happen to drop the phone, the G-sensor in the module will go back in place on the rear to make sure it’s in the safe position.
The main camera can record in 4K UHD at 30/60fps, with the secondary camera only recording in 30fps. It also comes with features like time-lapse, slow-motion video, motion tracking video and can take still photos while recording a video.
Battery – 5000mAh – the largest type of battery that exists in a flagship smartphone, lasting up to two days of non-stop use!
The Zenfone 6 audio – it has dual stereo speakers with dual NXP TFA9874 smart amplifiers, a DTS 7.1 virtual surround sound for headphone support, FM radio and more. The flagship comes with a pair of ASUS ZenEar Pro earphones.
It comes with a rear fingerprint sensor, a USB Type-C connection, has three slots – Dual SIM, dual standby (4G+4G) & one microSD card.
As for the OS, it comes with Android Pie out of the box and gets the new ZenUI 6 user interface that introduces a Dark Mode color scheme and a lot of new features that focus on improving the user experience, clean look, the use of AI and privacy.
The Zenfone 6 is available in two color versions: Midnight Black, Twilight Silver.
Price and Availability
The cheapest Zenfone 6 model is the one that has 6GB of RAM and 64 GB ROM – at 499 EUR (~ 557 USD), and it increases for the mid-range version which only comes with more internal storage (128 GB) – at 559 EUR (~ 624 USD). The high-end Zenfone 6 will have 8GB of RAM and 256GB ROM for 599 EUR (~ 669 USD).
