New Legend of Zelda Game Is Reportedly Under Development, According To Some Job Ads

The gaming world was surprised by an unexpected announcement. Monolith Soft, the company who owns the developer of the popular Xenoblade Chronicles, is working on a new Legend of Zelda game. Nintendo hasn’t officially announced the game, but job ads posted on the website of the company note that the firm is looking for technical artists, planners, designers, and professional artists.

The website page is filled with artwork which proves that they will be working on a new Legend of Zelda title. Monolith Soft is a larger company which includes three distinct studios (Monolith Productions made the Shadow of Mordor gamer for WB), and one of them has helped Nintendo to develop several titles, including Splatoon, Smash Bros., and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wilds.

Dedicated fans are already discussing the nature of the upcoming game. Some believe that Monolith is contributing to the next Legend of Zelda title, while others argue that they could make a standalone spin-off which is developed independently.

New Legend of Zelda game might be under development

Previous hints suggested that Monolith is currently working on two games. A new title developed by the Xenoblade team and what has been described as a medieval fantasy game. The hiring process began in 2017, a fact which infers that the company new from the start that they will develop a Zelda title at some point.

Nintendo provided another hint since the company has started to hire people for an unannounced Zelda project in 2018. That reinforces the notion that Monolith will provide support for the development of a new mainline Legend of Zelda title.

Until Nintendo makes an official announcement, we can only speculate about the possibilities. The latest title in the series was released back in 2017, and a new game would be a welcome addition for the Nintendo Switch. The favorite handheld console has been a success for the company, outselling the Wii U and allowing Nintendo to consolidate its position on the console market. It is likely that an official announcement will arrive in the following weeks.
