During E3 2019, Microsoft had a lot to share, but as enthusiasts know, one of the most important announcements that the tech giant made revolves around Xbox Scarlett.
Towards the end of their press conference, the company finally revealed the details for its next-gen Xbox plans aka Scarlett.
Scarlett might be referring at multiple consoles, and Microsoft has already confirmed that the next-gen system will be launching sometime during the Holiday of 2020.
Microsoft has also revealed Halo: Infinite will be a Scarlett launch title – and this marks the first time a Halo game has been a launch Xbox game since the original Halo: Combat Evolved for the first Xbox, Gamespot notes.
Microsoft has been quiet regarding the Scarlett project, and the tech giant chose to talk more about the internal hardware. The console doesn’t have a final name just yet, and Scarlett is just a code name, as it was already reported.
Four times more powerful than the Xbox One X
What’s sure is that it will be four times more powerful than the Xbox One X, according to info coming from Microsoft.
Gamespot revealed that, According to Microsoft’s announcement, “Scarlett contains a custom-engineered AMD processor and will be capable of both 8K resolution, 120 frames per second framerates, and variable refresh rates.”
They continued and noted: “It also supports ray-tracing and the system is equipped with a solid-state drive (SSD), something Sony has touted about PS5. Microsoft noted that the SSDS would be used as virtual RAM. The console has a custom AMD Zen 2 CPU, Radeon RDNA architecture, and GDDR6 RAM.”
It’s also interesting to note that Xbox boss Phil Spencer shared more details on the upcoming console during a post-conference interview.
He said that this is a leap more significant than any that they have taken before, and this is the “most powerful and highest performance console we’ve ever designed.”
