Samsung’s latest Galaxy S10 phones are allowing other devices to charge off the back of the phones via wireless Qi standard, CNET writes.
This means other phones as well.
More than that, it also allows Samsung’s brand new wireless Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch Active to charge up. All of this suggests the fact that the phone is basically a huge charging pad.
The phone’s charging tech is called Wireless PowerShare
The Galaxy S10 charging technology is called Wireless PowerShare, and this is quite similar to what the Huawei Mate 20 Pro had also implemented back in 2018.
The author of CNET’s article notes that what Samsung is doing is more exciting compared to Huawei because the product line is designed to charge off the back on the mobile devices.
“It’s a hub for your own personal constellation of Bluetooth things,” Scott Stein writes.
Samsung is also introducing the feature across five of its phones, and this will make it the most significant launch of this type of technology.
It’s also important to note that the Galaxy S10 cannot change more than one device at a time, but it’s still great.
CNET notes that now, it will be Apple’s move and the next iPhone will probably come in September.
“Apple’s new proprietary and delayed AirPower charge mat is expected in 2019, too, which will allow multiple devices to wirelessly charge at once. But that’s not the same thing as being able to charge everything through the phone itself,” CNET writes.
