The latest Apple news claim that the tech giant might change the charging cables and a=might also create a new iPod Touch.
Apple might have something in mind regarding the current charging cables for iPhones.
Apple might ditch the current lightning cables
Daily Mail writes that a brand new report claims that the company is thinking about ditching the existing lightning cables and moving to USB-C for iPhones. The tech giant has already made this move for its iPad Pro.
If they do decide to implement this change, this will render all the current apple charges for future iPhones useless. If they go on with this plan, this would mean that the same charger cable could be used for both Android and Apple devices.
USB-C is the latest charger for a lot of laptops and Android phones as well, and it’s currently used by the Samsung Galaxy S9, Google Pixel 2, and OnePlus 6.
“The report comes from supply chain blog Macotakara who cite sources close to the project. It goes on to mention the possibility of a new iPhone Touch. The iPod touch is the sole iPod still sold by Apple today after it got rid of the iPod nano and iPod shuffle in 2017,” Daily Mail notes.
All docks, adaptors and more plug-in accessories could become incompatible
USB-C has been launched back in 2014 and it’s currently to preferred cable for a lot of gadgets. Apple, on the other hand, moved away from its original 30-pin connector back in 2012 when the lightning cable emerged with the release of the iPhone 4.
If the aforementioned change indeed takes place, all existing docks, adaptors and more plug-in accessories will be incompatible.
Daily Mail reveals that Twitter users have addressed more complaints about the change on social media and they also talked about these incompatibility issues.
Among the latest updates, Apple has also launched a suite of tools for helping people curb their smartphone addiction.
