The US-China trade war is a hot topic these days, and consumers have been affected really severely by the US President Donald Trump’s ban on Huawei technologies.
More than that, they have also been hot by the fact that Google blocked access to the Google Play Store and Android updates.
Sputniknews online publication notes that all of this has made the users take the problem in their own hand and try to find solutions.
An IDC report revealed how Huawei’s colossal rise as the second largest mobile phone company in the world has led to Trump accusing the Chinese tech giant of posing threats to the national security and “to enact an executive order blanket banning the telecoms giant in the US.”
Despite the fact that Huawei has rolled out the much-awaited 5G which led to competitive prices and techs, consumers are living in fear of losing the access to critical Android updates and favorite apps from the Play Store, and this has put off retailers from selling the devices in the first place.
Switching to Hongmeng OS by fall
The online publication mentioned above reported that as a response to the ban, Huawei’s head of consumer business Richard Yu told CNBC that the company would be switching to its Hongmeng OS.
This began development back in 2012 and claims to be 60% faster than Android OS and compatible with Android apps. The switch will reportedly be made by autumn 2019.
The online magazine reports that “Hongmeng OS will also cover all Huawei devices, including computers, mobiles, smart devices, and others, in the event Microsoft and Google proceed with Trump’s tech ban.”
How to have access to updates and apps
The same publication notes that users can still enjoy access to system updates and popular apps.
The note a few ways in which users can do this and they include the following: using third-party app stores, using a custom ROM, downloading Windows updates manually and customizing computers with Linux partition.
