What Feature Should You Disable from Gmail

There’s this one feature that seems great at first: Gmail’s nudging feature, which restores all the emails back to your inbox when you replayed and the answer was not sent by you or a recipient. It’s actually really good if you need reminders. But if you don’t need them, the feature is not only useless but also annoying. It’s the result of software going too clever.

When you send someone an important e-mail and you really want a replay, you don’t really need the email client to tell you that you did not receive the message. We think you already know that.

You’re in luck, because you can stop Gmail’s nudging feature, you just need to know where to look. For things to be even better, you can select which nudging you want to be removed, in case you want reminders for some of the emails you did not respond to.

Here’s how to do the magic

Go to the official Gmail site and click on the Settings icon. Then, you need to select Settings. There, under Nudges, you need to uncheck “Suggest emails to reply to” in order to stop Gmail from giving you reminders about the messages you did not respond to. You can also uncheck the “Suggest emails to follow up on” in order to turn off Gmail’s reminders for messages that other people did not respond to.

From the Gmail app, you need to tap the Menu button, then Settings. After that, select your account, and under Nudges, you need to tap Replies and follow-ups. Then, Uncheck “Suggest emails to reply to” in order to stop Gmail from giving you reminders about the messages you did not respond to. Then, you can uncheck “Suggest emails to follow up on”in order to turn off Gmail’s reminders for messages that other people did not respond to.
