As fans of The Elder Scrolls franchise are waiting for Bethesda to release news about the highly anticipated game, gaming forums keep coming up with new theories about the new installment in the franchise is going to be named. The name that keeps coming up is “Redfall”. For those who aren’t familiar with the lore of the game, Redfall is a location from Tamriel and it’s the place where the Redguard race comes from.
The Redfall Location
The reason why people are talking so much about Redfall nowadays is because ZeniMax Media who is owned by Bethesda is now in a legal dispute with the company known as BookBreeze because it wants to use the Redfall name. This is why so many fans of the franchise believe that the new The Elder Scrolls installment is going to take place in Redfall, but this is not going to happen.
Jay Falconer is Not Giving Redfall Up
ZeniMax Media is not able to use the Redfall name because the title is owned by Jay Falconer who wrote a book series called Redfall. The author has recently announced that he is not going to give up the name because it’s his intellectual property.
“I want all of you to know I’m not trying to stop the game nor am I trying to get any money from the game. I want nothing from the game at all. I’m only trying to protect my ability to keep selling my books. This is simply a dispute over a trademark name. Nothing more. It’s not a cash grab – I want nothing from them and it should in no way hold up any game,” said Jay Falconer.
With that being said, we think it’s safe to say that the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6 will not be called Redfall.
