Bgr.com’s latest report is quite funny, as they’re announcing that the world should brace itself for “the ugliest smartphone in the history of smartphones.”
It’s a known fact that Android enthusiasts aren’t diehard fans of the notch.
“Monkey see, monkey do”
Apple was not even the first smartphone producer to cut a notch out of the phone’s display, but they were definitely the first ones who used the notch design that is sported by the iPhone X.
This design was copied by most Android phone companies because usually everything that Apple does is being praised all over the world.
Bgr says that the worst part of it all is that the phone companies have copied this design for no useful reasons whatsoever.
Apple reportedly needs such a considerable notch because of all the components that are in the TrueDepth camera system, but Android phones don’t really sport such complex 3D face scanning features, so they would have been better off with a smaller notch design.
Here comes Sharp Aquos R2 compact – main features & specs
The online magazine presents Sharp’s upcoming phone called Sharp Aquos R2 compact and even names it as “a monstrosity that might haunt your dreams for the rest of your life. It has not one but two notches… and they’re different shapes!”
Anyway, leaving the jokes aside, the phone has a top notch that will house the camera for the selfies, and the second notch on the bottom is for a home button, and it’s also shaped, like Apple’s notch from the iPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone XR.
We’ll leave it up to you to decide wherever the combined notches make up a good design or not.
BGR also details the specs of the phone: “the Aquos R2 compact features a 5.2-inch 2280 x 1080 IGZO LCD screen, a Snapdragon 845 chipset, 4GB of RAM, a 22.6-megapixel camera, a 2,500 mAh battery, and Sharp’s skinned version of Android 9.0 Pie.”
