2019 is the year of foldable phones without a doubt. On the other hand, things don’t seem to look that great for this exciting new model of a mobile device.
BGR reminds readers that the first foldable smartphone in the world was not able to be launched by an Android handset vendor due to unexpected manufacturing defects.
More than that, the most exciting foldable handset of 2019 might now suffer the impacts of the new episodes of the trade war with China, reports the same online publication.
This is between the Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X which still have to reach the public.
The Galaxy Fold, delayed again
The Galaxy Fold seems to be hit with yet another delay, according to a recent report from Korea which is cited by the online publication.
During the past few weeks, Samsung has informed the buyers in the US who have preordered the foldable phone that they will have the option of canceling their orders if the phone will not be delivered by May 31st.
BGR notes that Best Buy has already canceled the preorders for the phone, but at the same time, Samsung assured customers that the Galaxy Fold is still on track to launch this year. The tech giant made sure to highlight that it will not take that long.
The Galaxy Fold, a huge PR disaster
BGR wrote that “the Galaxy Fold turned out to be a huge PR disaster for Samsung, but at least the Korean handset maker was able to prevent an embarrassment for Note 7 proportion, by postponing the launch.”
The online publication said that the reason for all of this is the fact that a lot of early units have shows some problems coming from the manufacturing process. These issues eventually led to critical display failures.
The Korea Herald reported that now Samsung seems to be taking more time in order to fix the issues. A new launch date will be reportedly released in the future weeks.
