Just like they used to do during previous years, Sony launched a holiday theme for all users to apply on their PS4. On the other hand, it seems that there are some eagle-eyed players who have noticed that this might include a teaser for the PS5.
There has been a ton of speculation that the PS5 line might be coming sooner than expected, in 2020.
A potential reason for skipping E3
All these rumors related to the new console began after it was announced that Sony would not be attending E3 in 2019.
This is what made fans and enthusiasts believe that it’s pretty clear that Sony has other plans for that specific week. What plans? well, the announcement of the PS5.
We recently reported that Sony’s PlayStation will not be attending the event scheduled for 2019.
This is Sony’s official statement: “PlayStation fans mean the world to us, and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019.”
The tech giant concluded by saying “We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.”
A possible announcement during PSX
Other voices claim that Sony is going to announce the new console during the annual PlayStation Experience (PSX) event.
Whatever Sony’s plan is, it looks like they could be already hinting at something at fans noticed. They observed that there’s a strangely shaped S in the new holiday theme that we were telling you about.

“The first scene shows ‘Happy Holidays’ with a normal looking ‘S’, whereas the next scene shows ‘PlayStation’ with an S that is closer to a 5 – i.e. Play5tation,” Dexerto notes.
The same online publication is wondering what other reason could there be for using such a strangely shaped S, than to get fans even more excited.
There is one other possibility: the PS4 is 5 years old this year so this would mean that PS5 is not involved at all.
