Celebrating the 23rd anniversary since the first Pokémon game made it on Game Boy – Pokémon Red and Green, the recent Nintendo Direct presentation which just aired about an hour ago, has made everyone in the world hype over the new brand titles that are coming to the Switch.
The new RPG game is called Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield!

The presentation video only revealed a few scenes, but we also listened to the details offered by the CEO and president of the Pokémon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara, the Game Freak game producer of the new RPG – Junichi Masuda, and the Game Freak director of the game, Shigeru Ohmori.
You can check out the entire video here, which only lasts 7 minutes.
Here are the new Pokémon that will can be your sidekicks, and also the new region called Galar. It looks oddly similar the UK map, and features fields, mountains, the countryside and cities. The game looks more three dimensional and has enough eye-candy to keep you playing!
Just like in the previous Pokémon titles, the player gets unique starter ‘Mons to begin the game. They are called Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
Grookey is a chimp, a Grass-type Pokémon, and @Pokémon sais on Twitter that he is a “mischievous Pokémon,” that is “full of boundless curiosity.”
Scorbunny is a fire-type ‘Mon; a bunny “always running about, bursting with energy.”
Meanwhile, Sobble is a bit more shy. The water lizard Pokémon “is a bit timid, shooting out attacks as it hides itself in the water.”
In the past games, trainers could only get one of them as a sidekick! And by the look of this Tweet, we think this is the case:
Now that you’ve met our new starter Pokémon, which will you choose to accompany you on your journey across the Galar region?
