At the global press conference Next @ Acer, the company announced the launch of the new Swift 5 notebook which represents a new approach to productivity, being strong and light enough to be carried anywhere. The new ultraportable device is an incorporation of elegant design and performance, presenting a professional look, supported by an impressive functionality. This year’s model features ultra-narrow frames that provide a 90% screen-to-case ratio, a touch screen with Corning® Gorilla® Glass Antimicrobial and new color options such as mist green.
“The new Swift 5 redefines the concept of thin and light notebooks,” said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc. “A productivity center housed in a sleek, ultraportable chassis, the Swift 5 is a great choice for professionals who are always on the move and looking for a device that can keep up with them.”
Acer Swift 5 is an ultra-thin and light notebook, positioned at the intersection of style, power and portability. Its 14.95 mm chassis is made of high-quality magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminum, which allows it to pack state-of-the-art Intel® Core ™ processors with powerful integrated graphics, based on the new Intel Xe architecture or, optionally, NVIDIA® GeForce® MX350, and weighs less than 1 kg. This power makes it possible to run multiple applications simultaneously, and the 1TB storage space on high-speed PCle SSDs and up to 16 GB LPDDRAX ensures fast loading. Moreover, those at the office or in a video conference will appreciate the possibility to control the noise emitted by the device by alternating the three cooling modes: silent, normal or high-performance.
Athletic aesthetics and an impressive screen
Swift 5 has an elegant design, which comes in two color variants: mist green or safari gold, both with gold accents. The metal chassis of the notebook is defined by sharp angles and a minimalist profile that makes it an excellent option for image-minded professionals. That being said, the Swift 5 design is not just about appearance. This year’s model includes a specially designed hinge, which gently lifts the device while the screen is open, allowing a more ergonomic writing experience, better thermal performance and highlights the spectacular screen.
The opening of the notebook reveals a generous trackpad and a 14-inch IPS FHD touch screen, both supporting multi-finger gestures to provide an incredibly intuitive experience. The screen has a brightness of 300 nits, covers 72% of the NTSC range and is surrounded by ultra-narrow frames on all four sides, allowing a screen-to-housing ratio of 90%, for a vivid and captivating viewing experience.
The Swift 5’s touch screen is covered with a layer of Corning® Gorilla® antimicrobial glass that has been specially designed to reduce odors and the formation of microorganisms that cause stains on the touch screen. In addition, users have the option to include antimicrobial coating on the touchpad, keyboard and all device covers.
Full connectivity and autonomy for the whole day
The Swift 5 has a large, 56 Wh battery that lasts all day and can be charged quickly, offering 4 hours of use after a charge of only 30 minutes. A multitude of connection options, such as USB Type-C, Thunderbolt ™ and USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, in addition to Intel® Wi-Fi 6 dual-band (GIG +) and Bluetooth 5.0, make it an excellent choice for professionals who you have to work on the go. For comfort and security, Swift 5 is equipped with a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello. It also supports Wake on Voice, allowing users to activate and query Windows 10 even when the screen is off.
