Facebook is one of the world’s largest software companies and it has a monthly active user base that is bigger than one billion. As impressive as this might be, this is not the most amazing thing about Facebook. What’s great about this social media platform is the fact that the developers have realized that not everyone is able to afford a high-end smartphone that can run Facebook and they decided to create Facebook Lite.
Just as its name implies, Facebook Lite is a lightweight version of Facebook. This means that Facebook Lite offers the same amount of features as Facebook does while lowering the amount of hardware resources that the app needs in order to run. The way that Facebook’s developers are able to do this is by constantly releasing new updates that optimize Facebook Lite’s software.
New Facebook Lite Update
Facebook Lite is making headlines today because it has recently received a new update. The update was released today and it sports the 132.0.0.2.113 beta version number. As you can tell from its name, this update is designed for all Facebook Lite users who are enlisted in the beta program. Not only that, but this is an APK update which means that Android users are the only ones who get to access it right now.
For those who are not familiar with APK updates, the only thing that they need to know is that APK stands for “Android Package Kit” and that these updates are not released OTA (over the air). Instead of rolling out OTA, all interested Facebook Lite beta users need to manually download and install the app on their smartphones.
What’s New?
The developers of Facebook Lite didn’t want to go into too much detail when they released the new APK and the only thing that the patch notes say is that the new update brings “improvements for reliability and speed”.
