Is it possible that we could finally jailbreak the latest iPhone models? Two developers made an exciting announcement on Twitter last week. It appears that they finally managed to find an iOS 12.1.2 vulnerability that would allow them to jailbreak this iOS version.
The news was posted on Twitter:
Finally! (Mach) Port-oriented Programming (a.k.a POP) Attack Proof 3: Get task_for_pid_0 & root on iOS 12.1.2 (iPhone XS Max with A12 core), by @bxl1989 and @SparkZheng . PAC bypassed now! pic.twitter.com/gL3LZMnqUj

Their names are Xialong Bai and Min Zheng. They managed to do this by using Port-Oriented Programming (POP) attack in order to exploit the iOS 12.1. 2 vulnerabilities. They managed to bypass the restrictions of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.
This gives hope to all jailbreak developers as it means that it is possible to “crack” even the latest iPhones such as the XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. More than that, it shows that there is hope when it comes to discovering possible vulnerabilities in the A12 Bionic.
Is an iOS 12.1.2 jailbreak on its way?
Does this mean that iPhone users could soon receive iOS 12.1.2 jailbreak tool? Sadly this might not be the case. To begin with, we don’t know whether the researchers will share with the public their discoveries. There is a chance that they will choose to report them to Apple instead.
If Apple learns about these vulnerabilities, the company will make sure that it will be fixed as soon as possible. This means that a new iOS version will be released in order to fix those vulnerabilities. At the moment Apple seems confident that the latest iOS versions can’t be jailbreaked.
