Apple rolled out the new iOS 12.2 version, and it seems that an iOS 12.2 jailbreak is impossible. That’s terrible news for the jailbreak community, but as it looks like at the moment, Apple managed to implement some improved security features that make a jailbreak impossible to pull off.
The Cupertino-based tech giant rolled out iOS 12.1 Beta about a couple of months ago. The update is still in its distribution stage. Even though the new iOS version brings in some exciting new features and functions, including AirPods 2 support and the Apple News+, some iPhone and iPad users would love to have more freedom in iOS.
Accordingly, those users were relying on jailbreak solutions. Unfortunately, the iPhone and iPad users who updated to the new iOS version will be disappointed because an iOS 12.2 jailbreak is impossible at the moment. New security rules in the iOS update lower the chances for a reliable jailbreak solution.
iOS 12.2 Jailbreak Is Impossible At The Moment
There are many reasons why someone would like to jailbreak an iPhone or iPad, and the most common one is that a jailbreak solution would allow users to download third-party apps from unverified sources. Besides, iOS is not a very customizable OS, so jailbreak solutions were the only options we had to tweak the iOS and personalize the system as much as we wanted.
Since Apple released iOS 12.2, jailbreak devs have tried finding a vulnerability to start developing an iOS 12.2 jailbreak solution. Unfortunately, there is none seen so far, so it seems that iOS 12.2 jailbreak is indeed impossible.
Renowned jailbreak dev Pwn20wnd stated on Twitter that “iOS 12.0 – 12.1.2 might be the last ‘jailbreakable’ iOS version for arm64 devices (A12-A12X) for a very long time.” Accordingly, we should expect the future iOS versions, including the iOS 13 and beyond, to come with improved security features that would make jailbreak impossible.
