Huawei and Honor have released many budget friendly smartphones that come with great features. Today we’ll check out the latest smartphones from the two Chinese tech giants: Honor 10 Lite and Huawei Y9. Which one is better?
Design and Screen: Honor 10 Lite vs. Huawei Y9
Huawei Y9 comes with a wider display cutout, whereas the Honor 10 Lite has the waterdrop notch that makes it bezel-less. Honor 10 Lite also has a 3D design and both smartphones have a vertical dual camera setup and a fingerprint scanner.
The winner is Honor 10 Lite for the bezel-less design.
The Honor 10 Lite has a 6.21-inch full-HD+ display and the Huawei Y9 comes with a 6.5-inch FullView Display.
Both smartphones come with the same aspect ratio (19.5:9, 1080×2340 pixels). The only difference is the small notch on the Honor 10 Lite which offers 91% screen-to-body ratio, compared to Huawei Y9’s 83%.
As for the screen, we have a tie as they are similar.
Camera: Honor 10 Lite vs. Huawei Y9
Both cameras come with the same setup on the back: 13MP primary sensor with f/1.8 and a secondary 2MP depth sensor. Both smartphones’ camera units support PDAF and HDR and come with a LED flash.
Again, we have a tie.
As for the selfie cameras, there is some difference between the two. Huawei Y9 has a dual camera setup with a 16MP main camera (f/2.0 aperture) and a secondary 2MP depth sensor (f/2.4). In comparison, the Honor 10 Lite has only one selfie camera which packs 25MP (f/2.0).
The dedicated depth sensor makes a difference, so Huawei Y9 wins this match.
Specs: Honor 10 Lite vs. Huawei Y9
Both smartphones come with the same processor – Kirin 710 chipset, but the Honor 10 lite comes with a second model.
We have Honor 10 Lite with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and we only have Huawei Y9 with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
Nonetheless, we have a tie, since we compare the two 4GB RAM smartphones.
Sensors and Software: Honor 10 Lite vs. Huawei Y9
The two smartphones come with all the standard sensors such as ambient light sensor, digital compass, gravity sensor, gyroscope and proximity sensor.
As for the software, this is what makes the difference. Honor runs on Android Pie EMUI 9, while Huawei Y9 runs on Android Oreo EMUI 8.2.
This round is won by Honor 10 Lite as it comes with the latest OS.
Connectivity and Battery Life: Honor 10 Lite vs. Huawei Y9
Both smartphones come with Bluetooth, dual-SIMs, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, Micro USB, Wi-Fi, and more.
In the battery department, Honor 10 Lite comes with a 3,400mAh battery, and Huawei Y9 has a 4,000mAh battery.
We’ll give this one to Huawei Y9 since it comes with a bigger battery.
Prices and Verdict: Honor 10 Lite vs. Huawei Y9
Honor 10 Lite costs about $195 (the 4GB RAM model) or $250 (the 6GB RAM model), while the Huawei Y9 is almost $225 for the only model available. There’s not much difference between the two budget-friendly phones – even the prices are almost the same.
If you want a phone mainly for the selfies and a slightly bigger battery, go for the Huawei Y9.
If you are interested in better performance and want the 6 GB RAM Honor 10 Lite with the latest OS, get the Honor 10 Lite.
