We have all heard recent rumors saying that Microsoft’s Halo Infinite is going to skip Xbox One as one of the next-gen titles. However, now we know that all these reports were false. According to a comment on Twitter made by Frank O’Connor, the development director of the Halo franchise, “Halo Infinite will be released for Xbox One and appropriately spec’d PCs.”
The new Xbox is expected to be unveiled during E3 2019
It is widely reported that Microsoft might announce its new Xbox later this year during the E3 event. Most of the rumors about Halo Infinite skipping Xbox One seem to originate from worries of numerous fans of the popular series that Microsoft might want to release it for the upcoming platform. These rumors, however, were not confirmed by any credible sources.
Halo Infinite is set to be the next Xbox’s launch title
The upcoming Halo Infinite is set to be the first new mainline game of the Halo series since Halo 5: Guardians, which was released in 2015. This highly-anticipated installment of the Halo series is expected to become a launch title for Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox hardware. Considering the fact that only one other game of the series, 2001’s Halo: Combat Evolved, was chosen as the launch title for new Xbox hardware, which back then was the original Xbox, it will be quite an event for all fans of Halo.

Due to the fact that all generations of Xbox One hardware are compatible with each other, they can now be considered a family. For example, the less-powerful Xbox One S can be used to play games that were released for the very powerful Xbox One X. The next-gen Xbox consoles are rumored to launch in Autumn 2020, and many experts expect that the new hardware will be compatible with the already released generations of Xbox One.
