It was recently reported that the reason for which Rockstar Games hasn’t created the highly anticipated GTA 6 until now is that they wanted to focus on Red Dead Redemption 2.
But this one has now been released, and Rockstar Games is free to start developing other games.
Listing new job openings
Rockstar Games has listed a bunch of new job openings for programmers.
They started to expand the staff by hiring lots of new programmers which makes it clear that a new game is in the works.
The job listing doesn’t mention GTA 6, but it does say that the programmers are going to be assigned to create a “next-gen” game.
Where will GTA 6 be set?
Now, fans start wondering where the new game will be set. There have been a lot of rumors and speculations around the game ever since the fifth one dropped.
There’s a popular fan theory suggesting that the game’s location will be London, England. This might sound pretty cool for some.
Comicbook revealed that the lead writer for Rockstar Games Dan Houser has also previously stated during an interview with The Guardian that even the idea of London might seem appealing, this setting does not quite work entirely.
He said “I think for us, my gut feeling is, GTA London was cool for the time, but games were more limited then. These days I think we would love to set a game in the UK, set in London, whatever, but I don’t know if it would be a GTA game. I think there are plenty of great stories we could tell about the UK, great environments to showcase, great gameplay mechanics that could have a UK bent to them – I just don’t think it would be a GTA necessarily.”
He added, “Speaking for myself – and normally I’d be as militant about saying ‘we’ as much as possible because it certainly isn’t only me at all, thank god – but my personal feeling is that GTA is America. With this game, I think, we’re thrilled with the location. It let us do something iconic.”
The online magazine believes that it’s likely that “the franchise will stick to a familiar client, inspired by Florida, New York, and California locations.”
Keeping the game in LA would make sense, but Miami could also work.
