Elder Scrolls was recently in the spotlight after an Elder Scrolls tabletop RPG scenario that’s called Elsweyr got accused of plagiarism, and it has been removed.
ZeniMax Online Studios was created by ZeniMax Media which is the parent company of Bethesda. They developed Elder Scrolls Online, and the MMO role-playing game was first released on PC back in 2014. It came to the Xbox One and the PS4 in 2015.
Since back then, the company has kept supporting the game, and it’s also important to note that after a rocky launch, the MMO is in a great place today and it boasts a vast community.
Comicbook online publication notes that this is not the only game that the 250-plus studio is working on.
A new game in a brand new engine is in the works
ZeniMax Online Studios boss Matt Firor has recently spoken to the Official Xbox Magazine and revealed that the team is indeed working on something completely new: a AAA game in a new engine.
“Not a lot of people have picked up on this, but if you look on our job site you’ll see that we are accepting applications for people to work on a new engine for a new triple-A game,” said Firor when asked if they are working on something new.
Firor continued and said, “So yes, we have ideas, but we’re committed to ESO for as long as it takes.”
In other words, the developer hasn’t committed its full team to the new project. ZeniMax Online Studios is planning on supporting ESO for a long time.
Firor also feels the team has been killing it lately with the MMO.
“It took a while to sink in that we’re killing it right now, because we went through the whole phase where we were responding to the PC-launch Elder Scrolls criticism, and then console was huge, but it was so huge that it broke a bunch of stuff at the beginning,” said Firor.
