Remember when Nokia used to rule the smartphone industry with its Symbian devices? Well, that ended as soon as Google and Apple announced their Android and iOS operating systems. Nokia had a tough time competing against the new operating systems and it stopped manufacturing any new smartphones. Luckily for Nokia fans, HMD Global decided to join the smartphone industry and it acquired Nokia. Not just that, but HMD Global also introduced Nokia smartphones to Google’s Android operating system and they are all running on it.
The reason why we are talking about Nokia and the Android operating system today is because HMD Global has announced that the company’s high-end smartphones will all receive the upcoming Android 9.0 Pie operating system update. In fact, let’s see which are the Nokia smartphones that will run on Android 9.0 Pie when it releases
Nokia Smartphones Will Get Android 9.0 Pie
- Nokia 5 – January 2019;
- Nokia 3.1 Plus – January 2019;
- Nokia 6 – Q1 2019;
- Nokia 5.1 – Q1 2019;
- Nokia 3.1 – Q1 2019;
- Nokia 2.1 – Q1 2019
- Nokia 3 – Early Q2 2019;
- Nokia 1 – Early Q2 2019.
Major Operating System Update
As we can clearly see above, eight of Nokia’s smartphones are scheduled to receive Android 9.0 Pie. To make things even better, four of them will receive the major operating system update in the first quarter of 2019. Therefore, we advise all Nokia 6, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1 users to keep their eyes peeled at their notifications panel because the update should arrive during the upcoming weeks.
Additionally, the first thing that Nokia 6, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1 users need to do is to make sure that they have a couple of free GB of internal storage space and to keep their smartphones connected to a stable Wi-Fi network when downloading Android 9.0 Pie.
