Fitbit OS 3.0 Rolls Out To Versa And Ionic Watches Amidst Rumors That Smartwatch Sales Will Be Boosted In 2019

Even though Fitbit’s efforts had a slower start with Ionic, the device seems to have gotten better with updates.

The Versa, on the other hand, launched with a more understated design and also a lower price tag.

Now, Android Police just reported that Fitbit is rolling out more enhancements to its smartwatch platform with the latest v3.0 update.

Fitbit OS 3.0 brings more stats in the Today dashboard and some brand new exercise goals, along with new fitness app tie-ins.

What’s new

Today received tiles for sleep, water, weight, and food as well. You will also be able to log new data from the watch.

The app gallery has been one of Fitbit’s most significant minuses, and the company now says that the new version brings massive changes.

Android Police, on the other hand, reports that it’s all about some new partnerships: “There’s TRX, FitBark, GOLD’S AMP for Fitbit, Achu Health (watch face), and more,” they wrote.

It seems that both watches will receive goal-based exercises modes with the latest update. In other words, you will get goals for calories, distance, time for exercises and more.

Smartwatches sales will be boosted in 2019

This year, the smartwatch industry, in general, has not been going quite as expected, but it looks like 2019 will bring some improvements.

Smartwatches have been surging in new users – older users.

The main reason for which this might happen is that wearable makers such as Apple and Fitbit have been adding health monitoring features that appeal to older consumers because they are struggling more with health issues.

For instance, there’s a fall detection app and also an EKG monitor added by Apple to its Apple Watch Series 4. Fitbit is reportedly also adding a feature that could be able to detect sleep apnea.

We’ll just have to wait and see how things will be going in 2019.
