OnePlus has been developing smartphones with advanced technical features at very good prices for several years, but in the last two years the company has started asking for high prices for the launched models. The new strategy has alienated old fans of the Chinese brand, and the financial results have suffered.
Pete Lau, the head of the company, said in an interview that OnePlus will once again focus on affordable smartphone models, but will also launch premium devices.
Lau did not disclose information about new products in the interview with Fast Company.
Change of strategy
The next cheap smartphone model from OnePlus will be, according to rumors, OnePlus Z. It will most likely include Snapdragon 765 chipset, with integrated 5G modem.
The Chinese brand wants to expand its product portfolio to develop its own ecosystem. The company has launched a TV in India and is rumored to be working on Apple AirPods wireless headphones.
The Shenzhen company was founded in 2013 by entrepreneurs Pete Lau and Carl Pei, and in 2019 had revenues of $ 1.4 billion.
