Recently many iOS users are complaining about the accessibility of the Shortcuts. The problem seems to be mainly around the activating of the Shortcuts with Siri, and we are still waiting for Apple to fix it.
The problems were reported on the social media, mainly on Twitter and people are having problems accessing the Shortcuts they have created on their devices. Of course, members from 9to5Mac tested this iOS issues to clear it out. The Shortcuts are running smoothly when using the proper Shortcuts app but when using Siri to access a Shortcut by using a pre-set phrase, Siri is not able to run it. It responds as the file does not exist.
The issue does not look like being linked to the update of the iOS or the update of the Shortcuts app since the first tweet about the problem was spotted yesterday and the updates were a day after. It is interesting that Siri can access shortcuts created through a third party app.
If you are wandering what is the iOS update about here are some information. Apple just released the iOS 12.1.1 for iPhone an iPad devices with remarkable improvements to FaceTime, Haptic Touch on iPhone XR, and more.
In our opinion, the best way to solve this is to wait for an Apple bug fix upgrade but until then here are some steps that it worked for the 9to5Mac team, but they might not work on all devices. If you have many Shortcuts opened it will not function.
Just follow the next steps:
- Go to the Shortcuts app
- Tap on a Shortcut
- Tap the settings icon in the upper-right corner, just below the “Done” button
- Tap the “Siri Phrase” option
- Choose “Re-Record Phrase”
