The Sims 5: Electronic Arts Disappoints With Its “Cash Flow Over Fans” Approach

The latest reports coming from Electronic Arts brings a few hints regarding the release of the long-awaited sequel: The Sims 5.

This will reportedly not going to get out soon, and the reason is quite a materialistic one – The Sims 4 is still making a ton of cash these days, so developers thought that there’s no hurry to release the new game.

We might as well expect to see the new game only when The Sims 4 stops making this much money.

Needless to say, social media is filled with regret as fans don’t really like the game company’s approach in which fans are left waiting for the sake of profit.

The release date for The Sims 5 might be sometime in 2020 or even later.

The Sims 4 is still too profitable

Sources who are closer to the situation claim that EA is willing to let their fans wait some more for the release of The Sims 5.

The current Sims 4 has made more than a billion bucks in its lifetime, and it seems that the company doesn’t feel that they have a reason to change this.

As money seems to be the top goal, the developers could ruin this impressive cash flow with the release of the new game.

On the other hand, the good news is that the company plans to release a lot of brand new content for The Sims 4 in the future. This should be happening before 2020.

Why is The Sims 4 still popular?

We recently reported that the reason why the Sims 4 is still a popular game that generates money even though it was released back in 2014 is that EA keeps releasing DLCs for it.

DLCs are easy to make for developers and updating the Sims 4 instead of creating the Sims 5 is a “safe bet” for EA.

The Sims 4 fanbase will keep buying the new DLCs because they know that they have to wait for some more to get The Sims 5.
