After months of waiting Nokia fans will finally get the long-awaited Android Pie update on their devices. Well, at least some of them will.
HMD Global has already released the update for several devices and a new lot should join the Pie clan soon. In comparison to other rivals HMD Global is one of the fastest companies when it comes to making the update available for the entire range of its products. One of the reasons is the participation in Google’s Android One program. Android One is an optimized version of the operating system which gets the best features from the main release and it’s low resource consumption makes it ideal for budget devices.
The main advantage of using an Android One device is that you will receive security and system-wide updates for at least two years.
Nokia 3.1 Plus and Nokia 5 owners will be able to install the latest update in the following days. The update will be rolled out slowly around the world in order to prevent any potential issues that could appear.
The first Nokia 6, released back in 2017, will also receive the update in approximately two weeks. The company is currently working on perfecting the compatibility with Dolby Atmos audio features that will be paired with the Android Pie update.
The last devices that will receive the update are Nokia 1 and 3. In their case the update will become available at some point in Q2 2019.
If the company is able to respect the roadmap and delivers the update in time it will be one of the few companies were able to update its entire selection of smartphones
HMD is an independent Finish company that currently manufactures and sells smartphones under the Nokia brand. Its aim is to provide great smartphones that live up to the standard of excellence and quality that established Nokia’s reputation back in the day.
The company will also release new devices in the summer.
