Sony has been adding the finishing touches to PlayStation 5, but the tech giant has not revealed too much so far about the much-awaited console.
According to the latest reports, we don’t have to wait and guess too much anymore because Sony’s Mark Cerny just had an interview with Wired, and he finally confirmed that the PS5 is coming our way in 2020.
He also spilled the tea on some pretty exciting info regaring the console’s hardware specs.
Ray tracing and AMD chip
It seems that the PS5 will not be coming this year, but we’ll see the console in 2020. He confirmed the fact that Sony will not be launching the PS5 this year, so it’s believed that this launch will take place as soon as the next year.
Also, one of the most impressive features that PS5 will have is ray tracing.
The feature is now being used by Hollywood movie studios in order to create special FX, and this can also be seen on some high-end gaming PCs.
According to Cerny, Sony adjusted the feature to the point that it will be able to deliver incredible gaming experience for the PS5.
The console will be powered by an AMD chip based on the third gen of AMD’s Ryzen line, and it will feature eight cores with the 7nm Zen 2 architecture.
3D audio
Cerny said that the chip also comes with a highly innovative featured called 3D audio.
“As a gamer, it’s been a little bit of frustration that audio did not change too much between PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. With the next console, the dream is to show how dramatically different the audio experience can be when we apply significant amounts of hardware horsepower to it”.
SSD support
The next step for consoles would be to equip them with SSD. Mark Cerny also said that PS5 would come with SSD in order to boost performances of loading screens in games. By the looks of it, PS5 seems to be the console of the future.
