Samsung Galaxy A8s vs. Huawei Nova 4 – Best Specs and Performance Comparison

Display

Neither Nova 4 or Galaxy A8s use OLED displays, but FHD+ IPS LCD panels instead. Both phones’ IPS panel offer viewing angles that are similar to each other, deep blacks and contrast ratio. The pixel density is also nearly identical.

The verdict is ‘tie’ as both the display are similar.

Performance

Galaxy A8s is powered by Qualcomm’s best mid-range SoC, the latest Snapdragon 710, while the Nova 4 utilizes the Kirin 970 SoC. When it comes to storage and RAM, the phones are similar, but the Kirin 970 is the fastest SoC available at the moment.

Verdict: Nova 4 gets this one as the Kirin 970 SoC is way better than Galaxy A8s’ mid-range chip.

Camera

Both phones use a USP triple rear camera setup. While Nova 4 is equipped with a 16MP with f/2.2 aperture secondary sensor, a primary 48MP module with f/1.8 aperture, a last sensor of 2MP module with f/2.4 aperture, the Galaxy A8s sports a  10MP telephoto module with f/2.4 aperture secondary sensor, a 24MP with f/1.7 aperture primary sensor, and a last one of  5MP depth-sensing sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The selfie cameras are similar.

Verdict: The Nova 4 has the advantage of the  48MP Sony’s sensor, so this one goes to it.

Battery

Both phones’ chipset is engineered for power efficiency which makes them last an entire day. However, the 3400mAh battery that the Galaxy A8s is equipped with is worse than Nova 4 ’s slightly larger 3750mAH one.

Verdict: The Nova 4 gets this one again as its battery is bigger.

Price

The Nova 4’s price is predicted to fall in the USD 450 to 500 price range and so is Galaxy A8s.

Final Verdict: After analyzing both these phones, without a doubt, the Nova 4 is the one you should go for, especially after taking a look at each spec in particular.
