December 3 marked the date when Sony released the PlayStation Classic.
This way, the tech giant confirmed previous rumors that it has been preparing strong competition for Nintendo’s miniature consoles.
Enthusiasts were surprised to see that the console’s price was $100 and this was higher compared to Nintendo’s NES and SNES classics which are priced at $60 and $80.
Anyway, fans are receiving great news because the price is not a problem anymore. Why? Well, because a lot of retailers have the price for the console down to $60 which means 40% after the console was launched only a month ago.
PlayStation Classic’s main features
The console is a miniature version of the original console dating back in 1995. It packs 20 PS1 games which are loaded onto it, and it also comes with two full-sized controllers.
This means that you and your BFF can play the games that support couch co-op.
GameSpot announced that such deals don’t usually last too long, so if you were planning to get the console, there’s no better time than now to get it.
The online publication made sure to warn readers wiring that “in GameSpot’s PlayStation Classic review, critic Peter Brown wasn’t thrilled with the retro console. ‘The PS Classic doesn’t feel like a celebration of PlayStation’s formative years the way Nintendo’s systems do.’”
Nintendo’s NES and SNES Classic are about to be discontinued
If you prefer getting a Nintendo mini console NES or a SNES Classic, then you are also advised to get one soon because it seems that Nintendo will shortly end production of these miniature devices.
You will still be able to find them in stock at a few retail retailers though.
