OnePlus 2 is one of the best smartphones to launch in 2015, but how well does it fare against Google’s Nexus 5X which launched the same year? Today we are going to pin OnePlus 2 and Nexus 5X against each other in order to find out which smartphone comes out on the winning side. Not just that, but this comparison will also show us if the two smartphones have what it takes to be used as daily carriers in 2019.
OnePlus 2 vs Nexus 5X
- Display Technology
We are going to kick things off with display technology. OnePlus 2 is equipped with a 5.5-inches display that uses LTPS IPS LCD technology which offers a full HD 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. Nexus 5X ships with a slightly smaller 5.2-inches display that uses IPS LCD technology which features the same full HD pixel resolution. We should note that both displays are coated in Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection.
- Specs Overview
OnePlus 2 is fueled by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 810 CPU that clocks at 1.82GHz. The CPU is paired with an Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB/4GB of RAM. On the other hand, we have Nexus 5X which is powered by Qualcomm’s hexa-core Snapdragon 808 CPU. This CPU clocks at 1.8GHz and it is bundled with an Adreno 418 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
The Results
As we can clearly see, the two smartphones are close equals when it comes to hardware specs. However, OnePlus 2 is the smartphone that comes out on top dominating Nexus 5X both in the display and specs departments. Nexus 5X used to make up for the lack of specs by receiving a constant stream of software updates from Google. Although, it’s been years since Nexus 5X has received a new update from Google and therefore, we have to crown OnePlus 2 as the winner.
