Ever since it was launched back in 2009, Minecraft has been constantly receiving updates over the years. We’ve seen all kinds of new worlds, new creatures and tools being added to it, but one thing was still missing. Finally, after 10 years of waiting, composting has been added to this popular game.
Why is composting so important?
Thanks to the new composter block that was added to the game in the most recent PC snapshot update, players will be able to transform old plants and vegetables into extremely useful bone meal, which in turn contributes to a faster growth of plants and trees in Minecraft, allowing them to also grow bigger than normally.
So how does it work? Well, it’s quite simple: the new composter can be built using some wood and fencing. Once the wooden box is built, players will just have to throw seeds, plants or food that they don’t need in it. Don’t ask, however, how plants and seeds get turned into bone meal in the game, because we have no idea. It’s just another mystery of Minecraft.
We know that fans already created mods adding their own composter block into Minecraft, but now composting will be part of the vanilla Minecraft experience.
The new feature should soon reach all versions of Minecraft
Even though the new composting block has its very practical uses, being useful for transforming excess crops into bone meal, it looks like there’s also another use that players have found for it. Fans are using the new block for decorations purposes too. There are players who believe that these compost blocks resemble bee hives, so they’ve decided to use them as fake bee hives.
It’s also important to note that if you want to do some composting, at the moment you will have to play Minecraft’s Java version and activate snapshots in the Minecraft launcher. But it shouldn’t take too long until the new compost blocks will be added to other versions of Minecraft as well.
