The first cases for Huawei Mate 40 reveal some interesting details about the new series of high-end smartphones from Huawei. It seems that the Chinese manufacturer will launch at least two variants of its top model by the end of 2020, and one of them will keep an increasingly rare component on smartphones in recent times: a headphone jack. This is not a major surprise, as previous generations kept the jack.
Huawei Mate 40 will also integrate a headphone jack
Huawei Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro will keep the circular camera system on the glass cover on the back. Most likely, the design on the Mate 30 will be kept, but it will be updated with more powerful sensors and better lenses. The Huawei Mate 40 Pro model seems to be equipped with two speakers, one at the bottom and one at the top, according to the cutouts in the covers, as well as with an infrared sensor at the top.
The standard Mate 40 also has two speakers, one of which is smaller, infrared, but also a 3.5 mm headphone jack at the top. The camera cutout in the case seems to be identical, so the dimensions will probably be similar, even if the performance of the cameras will probably not be comparable.
A Huawei announcement is expected at IFA, where we will probably get details about its new Kirin chipset from the 1000 series. It will be based on the 5nm architecture and will probably give us some information about the capabilities of the phone. However, the phones are expected later, probably in October or November.
If so far Huawei phones have not been severely affected by US restrictions, the Mate 40 models could face problems in the market. They may be available in limited quantities, subject to the stocks of processors that TSMC can deliver to the company before the September 15 deadline.
