Even though tech giants such as Samsung and Apple are launching high-end smartphones every year, those handheld devices are pretty expensive costing more than $1,000. Obviously, not everyone can afford to spend that much money on a smartphone and fortunately, they don’t even have to because there are lots of premium alternatives. Just take for example LG G3 and Nexus 6 which both arrived in 2014. Despite being nearly five years old, the two smartphones still offer reliable performances and today we are going to pin them against each other to see which one is the better choice.
LG G3 vs Nexus 6
- Display
We are going to start with the display technology that the two smartphones use. LG G3 ships with a 5.5-inches True HD-IPS + LCD display that offers a pixel resolution of 1440 x 2560. On the other hand, we have Nexus 6 which is equipped with a much bigger 5.96-inches AMOLED display that puts out a pixel resolution of 1440 x 2560.
- CPU, GPU and RAM
If we take a look under LG G3’s hood we are going to see that the smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 801 CPU which clocks at 2.5GHz. The CPU is paired with an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB/3GB of RAM. Nexus 6 is equipped with a much faster Snapdragon 805 CPU that clocks at 2.7GHz. Nexus 6’s CPU is paired with an Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
Verdict
From the looks of it, Nexus 6 is the clear winner in this comparison. However, Moto G6 makes up for that with its cheaper price. Therefore, interested buyers will have to consider if paying a couple more dollars is worth faster performances. In addition, there are custom ROMs for both smartphones which bring features from Google’s latest Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.
