You can forget all about foldable phones because Lenovo just hit us with the first foldable PC in the world.
It’s true that the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X have been making the sci-fi idea of foldable phones a reality, but Lenovo has definitely taken things a step further.
The amazing machine is a part of Lenovo’s Thinkpad X1 line of PCs, and it features a 13.3-inch LG-made OLED display with 2K resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Due to the fact that the device folds inwards, people will not really have to worry about the display getting scuffed inside the bag.
Quality of the display – a reason for concern?
Android Authority writes that the quality of the display is the reason for concern. They note that according to more outlets which managed to get their hand on the prototype, the display was quite dim and had poor viewing angles.
The online publication also makes sure to remind readers that this is unfinished hardware we’re talking about here, and Lenovo is hoping to be able to launch the PC sometime in 2020.
Also, Lenovo said that an Intel processor is powering the foldable PC and it seems that the tech giant aims for a whole day of use. The machine will also have support for cellular data, according to the reports.
Enhanced productivity
The device also reportedly comes with a Wacom pen and separate keyboard in order to improve productivity.
It seems that Lenovo told The Verge that they are working to avoid the Galaxy Fold’s issues.
What about the software?
“Even though the device currently being shown off to press runs Windows 10, Lenovo said the final version won’t run Microsoft’s OS,’ Android Authority writes.
This means that there are more possibilities to take advantage of the foldable PC’s features.
Pricing and availability are not out yet, but the online publication mentioned above says that $2,000 is not too far-fetched to assume.
