The 2018 iPad Pro models have been released back in November, and some users took to social media to complain.
They claimed that the devices were a bit bent out of the box or they became bent during use.
Now, the tech giant Apple addressed the issue while speaking to The Verge and they said that some of the devices are shipping with a “very slight bend in the aluminum chassis,” but they don’t see this as a defect.
Apple said that in some cases, an iPad Pro might come with a bent chassis straight out of the box.
The bend is not a defect
The tech giant claims that this is nothing more than a side effect of its manufacturing process and they don’t expect the device to bend more over time or affect the overall performance.
The Verge notes that “Apple has confirmed to The Verge that some of its 2018 iPad Pros are shipping with a very slight bend in the aluminum chassis. But according to the company, this is a side effect of the device’s manufacturing process and shouldn’t worsen over time or negatively affect the flagship iPad’s performance in any practical way. Apple does not consider it to be a defect.”
The magazine also said that it offered an iPad Pro with a bent chassis to Apple so that the engineering team could have a look at it and investigate this issue.
The report said that this so-called problem could be more pronounced on the LTE model of the iPad Pro because of the plastic strip that’s placed where the antenna line divides two sections in the metal.
This is where users noticed the bend. “Apple did not say the perceived flaw is strictly limited to the cellular iPad Pro, however, and some buyers of the Wi-Fi model also claim to have encountered it,” The Verge added.
