Huawei Mate 40 Pro detected in the hands of a user, comes with major changes

Huawei does not seem to be in a very favorable position on the electronics market, encountering blockages from the US authorities everywhere. Moreover, its research and development center caught fire just a few days ago. However, Huawei Mate 40 Pro, its next high-end smartphone, is scheduled to be launched in the near future. Now we see the first real images with the device, which is already being tested in China.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro is being tested on the streets of China

It’s not the first time we’ve seen a Huawei device in a video before the official announcement. And in the case of past launches, the company’s employees tested the P and Mate series phones in public transport, and this time, we see Huawei Mate 40 Pro in a subway in China. However, it is difficult to see what the final design of the device will be, as it is protected by a protective cover that hides many of its components.

However, we can observe some interesting things. First of all, we can see that Huawei has not given up the extreme curvature of the display. Mate 30 Pro came with a “cascade” screen, and Mate 40 Pro will continue the tradition. However, a major improvement is evident: on the right side, the phone has a power button and physical volume buttons. Last year, the company forced users to rely on virtual buttons on the side of the screen, which did not work as well as Huawei engineers had hoped.

Another new element seems to be the cutout on the screen. Instead of the infrared facial authentication system positioned centrally in a “notch”, as in the iPhone, Mate 40 Pro seems to use a screen cutout similar to the one on the Huawei P40 Pro. It is a pill-shaped perforation in the upper left corner, where the front camera and the rest of the sensors needed for facial recognition are positioned. However, the laser system may be replaced with a different one.
