Android Q Dark Mode and Gestures Might Be Inspired From iOS

The next version of Android Q unveiled by Google has a lot of new features, gesture controls, digital wellbeing, and a dark mode. Looks familiar? Maybe yes because the features those iPhone users have thanks to iOS 13.

At Google I/O 2019 conference, Google’s most applauding feature was the dark theme. The purpose of the dark theme is not only for being fancy and have a fresher look. The dark theme is saving energy and battery power on the OLED displays. So you will ask: what is the link with Apple then?

Well, if we looked back two years ago, Apple had introduced the dark mode to the iPhone. So returning to the present, Google has promised many features for the Android Q version that is similar to the ones from the iPhone. Moreover, Google is introducing the Digital Wellbeing identical to Apple’s Screen Time. The Digital Wellbeing has the purpose to help users to concentrate on essential tasks and not to waste time on social media.

Besides this, the Digital Wellbeing was first introduced on the Android Pie, and now we will see the feature on Android Q. if you have to do some critical task, this feature is useful. The idea is to push away distracting apps such as Twitter, Instagram, or Gmail into the background by switching off the notifications for some time.

Furthermore, Google is introducing the new gesture controls in the Android Q and is based on the same controls as the iPhone has. Instead of having a back button, you will have a back gesture. But Google isn’t stopping here and comes with some features that make even iPhone users jealous. Android Q will have a feature intended for people with disabilities. The idea of this feature was designed for deaf users, but the automatic transcription can be used by everyone now.

To sum up, Google has made sure that data security is improved as well in the new Android Q version. We don’t know for sure which devices will receive the OS, but from the I/O, 21 devices were announced. We are talking about Pixel phones, Sony’s Xperia XZ3, OnePlus 6T, Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro, and Nokia 8.1.
