Checking what version of the Google Play Store you have

In case you don’t know for sure whether you have the most recent version of Google Play Store installed on your device or not, here is what you can do to check it. You will need to open the Settings on your device, then Apps. Now you have to locate Google Play and tap on it. Once you scroll down until the bottom of the screen, you will be able to see the version number of the app.

How to install the Google Play Store

The easiest way of making sure that your Google Play Store is up-to-date is to download and install the Play Store APK manually. You can install the latest version of the app either straight on your phone or through your PC.

Installing the Google Play Store on your smartphone

If you want to install the APK file from your Android phone, you will need to first enable the “Unknown Sources” option from the Settings panel on your device. Without doing this first, you will not be able to download and install any APK updates. This applies only to older versions of Android, before Oreo was released.

For devices that already run Android Oreo and above, the process of manually installing the Play Store app is a little bit more complex, but as long as you follow the next steps, you will be fine.

  • Open Settings -> Apps and scroll down until you locate Google Chrome;
  • Now tap on your browser and scroll down to the Advanced Find the option that says Install unknown apps and open it. Now select Allow from this source (this can be later disabled once you’ve finished);
  • Manually search for the latest Google Play Store APK update online and download it;
  • Now all is left for you to do is to install the APK file.

Installing the Google Play Store by using your PC

If by any chance you don’t have an internet connection on your smartphone at the moment, you can also download the Google Play Store APK on your PC. Basically, you must follow the same steps as before, but you also need to ensure that you have a file manager app already installed on your phone. You will need to allow this program to install apps from unknown sources.

On you PC you will have to install the latest APK update for the Google Play Store and then simply use a USB cable to connect your Android phone to your PC. Once you copy the APK file to your device, you just have to install it and you’re all set. As a bonus, Click Games Like Solitaire will ease your gaming experience.
