PlayStation’s Decision To Skip E3 In 2019 Is A Mistake, Believes Industry Expert Analyst

We recently reported that Microsoft and Nintendo have chosen to remain loyal to the E3 video expo despite Variety’s latest report that Sony’s PlayStation will not be attending the event scheduled for 2019.

Nintendo calls E3 “an outstanding opportunity for us to share new games and experiences with fans and business partners from across the globe.”

Microsoft’s Phil Spencer said that E3 is a great platform to showcase the great features and creativity involved by the video game industry.

Sony’s PlayStation skips E3 2019

PlayStation says that they will skip next year’s E3 for the very first time in its 24-year history as the show is finally starting to have more events and companies that focus more intensively on online reception.

This is Sony’s official statement:

“PlayStation fans mean the world to us, and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019.”

The tech giant concluded by saying “We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can’t wait to share our plans with you.”

The PlayStation community receives the news with bitterness

The announcement was met with backlash from the PlayStation community for lots of reasons.

Industry expert analyst Michael Patcher says that this is a mistake and Sony should definitely not skip the gaming largest event in 2019.

“I think it’s a mistake to skip the show,” stated Patcher for GamingBolt.

“They will probably be there without a big booth. It was a surprise to me.”

He also added that he believes the reason for which Sony decided this is the timing of the new games. Patcher added that Sony probably doesn’t have anything new to announce at this point.

Sony is preparing for its PS5 launch which is scheduled for 2020.
